BTCCSquare news:

Cointelegraph's website was compromised on June 23, 2025, displaying fraudulent pop-ups offering 50,000 non-existent CTG tokens. The sophisticated scam mimicked legitimate airdrop interfaces, complete with countdown timers and Cointelegraph branding, tricking users into connecting wallets.

Security firm Scam Sniffer confirmed the malicious JavaScript originated from an ad network breach. No legitimate CTG token exists on major platforms like CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap—a critical red flag ignored by some visitors.

The incident highlights persistent security vulnerabilities in crypto media platforms, particularly through third-party ad systems. Cointelegraph's rapid response warning users against connecting wallets mitigated potential losses, but the breach underscores the need for enhanced web security protocols across the industry.
